United States President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday said that he plans to end the country’s ‘Birthright Citizenship‘, included in the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution.
The decision will take away the rights of those who are born to parents in the US without valid documents.
In an interview with NBC, Trump said that he also aims to deport all immigrants who have illegally entered the US over his four-year term.
However, he said that he was open to working with the Democrats to work out a deal that protects ‘Dreamers’ – undocumented immigrants who entered the US illegally as children – and lets them remain in the country.
Trump also said that he was not planning on restricting the availability of abortion pills. Earlier during his presidential campaign, the Republican had said that the US Supreme Court had shown “great courage” in overturning the Roe v. Wade ruling in 2022.
The three conservative Supreme Court justices Trump appointed during his first term had voted to overturn the nationwide right to abortion.
