An armed man was apprehended near Donald Trump’s rally in Coachella Valley on Saturday, leading local authorities to believe they may have thwarted a third assassination attempt against the 45th US president and 2024 Republican canditate.
Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco revealed the details of the arrest, identifying the suspect as 49-year-old Vem Miller, who was stopped at a checkpoint close to the rally venue.
, who was carrying a loaded shotgun, handgun, and high-capacity magazine, attempted to pass security using fake VIP and press credentials.
Sheriff Bianco, a vocal Trump supporter, shared that the suspicious behavior of the suspect alerted deputies, prompting the search of Miller’s black SUV.
“We probably stopped another assassination attempt,” Bianco remarked in a statement.
