Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Monday, mphasising that the success of Humanity lies in global unity, not in the battlefield. PM Modi also called for reforms in the global institutions, hinting at India’s pitch for a permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The PM said that only with such reforms, the global peace and development be achieved.
Prime Minister Modi called for the safe and responsible use of technology and a global digital governance framework which does not hamper the sovereignty and integrity of the member nations. He said that Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) should be a bridge, not a barrier and committed India’s DPI to the global good.
He further urged the global leadership to take stock of pressing issues such as terrorism, calling it to be a ‘serious threat to global peace and security’.
“While on one hand, terrorism continues to be a serious threat to global peace and security, on the other hand, cyber, maritime and space are emerging as new theatres of conflict.
