Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav criticised Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s recent statement about undergoing “agnipariksha” to prove his innocence in the liquor scam, calling it a “political stunt” aimed at garnering sympathy.
According to Yadav, Kejriwal’s comments were a clear admission of guilt, and the people of Delhi were fed up with his leadership.
“Kejriwal’s claim that he will only return to the Chief Minister’s office after proving his innocence is an acknowledgment that he was deeply involved in the now-scrapped liquor deal,” Yadav said during a press conference.
He added, “The people of Delhi now feel relieved to see the exit of a corrupt Chief Minister who has stalled the city’s development by 50 years.”
The Congress leader went on to say that Kejriwal’s resignation drama is unlikely to sway public opinion in his favour. “People now nurse so much hatred against him and his party that they want him gone for good. He has consistently failed to address the core issues facing Delhi over the past 10 years,” Yadav asserted.
