Rajasthan Royals Bt RCB by 4 wkts; to face SRH in Qualifier 2

That’s it then! RCB remains trophy-less after 17 seasons, while RR has booked its Qualifier 2 ticket against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on May 24. It wasn’t the clinical of wins for RR and its performance today showed it was a side that was coming off four consecutive defeats and was low on confidence in general. Still, some dropped catches and poor batting cost RCB the game. Ashwin, with 2 for 19 from 4 overs, was the pick of the bowlers, dismissing Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell off consecutive deliveries. Defending 173 was never going to be easy, but RR lost wickets at regular intervals to keep RCB interested. Still, it was a hill too steep.

RR needs 13 runs to win from 12 balls. FOUR! Ferguson offers width outside off and Powell guides this to the third-man boundary with an open bat face. FOUR! This is lucky as the ball runs away off Powell’s outside edge and to the boundary behind. A couple of dot balls in a row make it 5 to win from 8 balls. Slower one and defended back to the bowler by Powell. Five needed from seven balls. SIX! It’s all over. Powell lifts this over mid-on and the ball just goes over the rope for a maximum. RR wins by four wickets with an over to spare.
