Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday that the call for ‘One Nation, One Election’ has gained momentum, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to form a committee on the proposal under former President Ram Nath Kovind. He said the committee has submitted its report to the President. 

Backing the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, he said it would save money, time and resources.

“I believe the people of the nation will support us. However, only the Congress party will oppose it. It is their habit to oppose everything,” he said at a public meeting in Bikaner, Rajasthan. ” This (One Nation, One Election) will save your time and resources.” 

News agency quoted Singh as saying that the track record of the BJP government at the Centre has been “fabulous”.
