State BJP president Virendra Sachdeva criticised the CM for diverting attention from alleged corruption scandals within his government by raising the issue of excessive water bills. He accused Kejriwal of misleading the public and labelled his promise to settle water bills if given seven Lok Sabha seats as a mere joke.
“It’s ludicrous for Kejriwal to suggest that resolving water bills hinges on Delhiites granting him seven Lok Sabha seats. The truth is that it’s the responsibility of the Delhi Government, where he’s already in charge, to settle such issues. However, no administrative steps have been taken to help the people,” asserted Sachdeva.
He highlighted the administrative failure of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in addressing the issue of incorrect water bills, attributing it to the installation of faulty air flow water meters. He emphasised that while the Delhi Government claims to provide free water to thousands of consumers using up to 21,000 litres per month, it should extend this scheme to residential consumers receiving inaccurate bills. “The BJP has no objection to settling excessive water bills issued by the Delhi government,” stated Sachdeva.
