DU Union (DUSU) election: Campus turns fortress for D(U) Day

Delhi Police is learnt to have put in place an elaborate security apparatus ahead of
the Students’ Union election to be held on Friday.
Police have been detaining outsiders and letting them off after verification to ensure
that the movement inside the campus remains restricted to the students. In the last
two weeks, around 600 people were held in preventive detention and let off later.
The men were detained under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act.

These individuals were apprehended due to their lack of valid identification and were
subjected to standard preventive protocols, including inquiries into their background,
possession of valid IDs, and their affiliation with the campus,” said a senior police
officer, adding that the men were questioned and released by the officers on the same
day.
