Rainfall in Gurgaon on Tuesday left several roads waterlogged yet again, forcing commuters and vehicles to navigate knee-deep water at some place.
The city received 65 mm rainfall till 4.30 pm, said the district administration. Wazirabad recorded a rainfall of 36 mm and Badshahpur received 36mm of rainfall.
Stretches that were waterlogged included Rajeev Chowk, NH48 in Narsinghpur, near Signature Towers and Sector 39.
Extremely heavy rainfall was witnessed today in many parts of Gurugram within a short span of time. Subhash Chowk, Narsinghpur service lane, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar (from Shankar chowk to Dundahera), Mayfield Garden, Rajeev Chowk were among some of the areas where waterlogging was reported. In a few areas, water started receding within a short span of time. Pumping machinery and manpower were deployed at several locations to address waterlogging and to facilitate traffic movement,” the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority said.
Vikram Singh, executive engineer, GMDA, added: “We have installed six huge pumps — three each of 70 HP and 50 HP — to drain the water from the spot. Narsinghpur’s roads have an aberration. The main carriageway lies a step lower than the service road and the stormwater collected on the sides flows into the main road.”
SDO J P Verma Verma also inspected Narsinghpur and said. “Water from the Southern Peripheral Road comes rushing down and the stormwater from Kherki Daula also flows to this part of the city. There is a proposal to make a drain near the SPR so there is less burden on this highway when it rains.
