Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will meet the same fate as two of his former cabinet colleagues who are now behind bars, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said a day after the AAP convenor led his party’s show of strength at Ramila Maidan.
At an event held over the Narendra Modi government’s achievements during its nine years in office, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva questioned the presence of former Union minister and Congress leader Kapil Sibal on the stage of the AAP’s ‘Maha rally’ Sunday.
“Kejriwal, who had called Kapil Sibal corrupt, has shown his low level of morality by bringing him on the stage at Ramlila Maidan. What has happened to both the former ministers of Kejriwal, the same result is sure to happen to him as well,” Sachdeva said.
The BJP leader was referring to former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who are in jail. While Jain is in prison after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case, Sisodia is behind bars for his alleged role in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped liquor policy.
Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal sought to underline that government welfare schemes were there earlier as well but could not reach the last person of society; under the Modi government, however, these were reaching even the last person.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said the Modi government had provided Rs. 1.5 lakh crore for the development of Delhi in the last year and the Centre had made a significant contribution by connecting Delhi with other cities through a network of roads.
