Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani Monday kicked off the BJP’s campaign, revolving around the Narendra Modi-led government’s nine-year tenure at the Centre, for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, from Chandni Chowk.
Rupani called on several residents of the Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency during his visit as part of the BJP’s ‘Sampark se Samarthan’ programme, including poet Surendra Sharma, General Secretary of the Shri Dharmic Ramlila Committee Dheeraj Dhar and Delhi Jain Samaj head Chakresh Jain, with whom he discussed the achievements of the Modi government and presented them commemorative books.
Rupani and other BJP leaders also visited the Shri Gauri Shankar Temple, Shri Jain Lal Temple and the Gurudwara Shri Sisganj Sahib to offer prayers for “the country’s progress and BJP’s victory again in 2024”.
Rupani sought to underline schemes such as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan, Jan Dhan Yojana and Ayushman Bharat Yojana among others.
Public service during Covid, Make in India, and India’s “international image development” had, on the other hand, given recognition to the Modi government, he said.
Meanwhile, at a joint press conference with East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir, the party took a dig at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the issue of the renovation of his official residence.
“During Covid, when Delhi’s publicity minister was getting his bungalow worth crores built and preparing the structure to spread liquor in Delhi, the Modi government made all arrangements from oxygen to medicines,” Gambhir alleged.
